Daniel couldn't take it anymore. Every cell in his body was itching to finally get on his broom and feel that burst of adrenaline flying always managed to bring forth. He groaned loudly. Why the hell was he sitting in the common room, day-dreaming about Quidditch, when he could be already on the field, training by himself?!

Finally deciding to get up and do something about his Quidditch craving, Daniel sprinted up the stairs to his dorm room and quickly kicked his trunk open.

There it was. His pride and joy, his baby, his beauty; his very own Nimbus 2001. Although it was not the newest or best model out there anymore, Daniel still loved his baby just as much as the day he got her from his parents. Getting his broom out of his trunk, Daniel started to change into a green T-shirt and some track-pants. He only ever used his Quidditch robes for matches, never for training.

Looking at the window, a sudden idea popped up in his head. He bit his lip. It's not like he was breaking any rules, right?...Right. Having convinced himself, Daniel jumped on his broom and zoomed through the open window, heading towards the Quidditch Field.

The wind and speed felt heavenly! He had missed this sensation so much. Why couldn't he have done this sooner?

Lovino was not one for letting anyone - let alone a Beilschmidt - dictate his schedule. Especially when it came to flying. He didn't care if Beilschmidt wanted him to practice with the team only, Lovino was going to fly when he felt like flying and absolutely no one was going to stop him from doing so.

Not even the fact that he had to use a school broom was going to stop him. He knew that he could have just asked Romulus to buy him a broom of his own to use, but Lovino didn't feel comfortable asking for anything from his grandfather, especially now when the old man was his teacher.

He carried a broom over to the pitch and kicked off, relaxing at the sensation of being in the air. The adrenaline that came from knowing he was only being supported in the air by magic also helped energize him.

Honestly, Lovino could definitely say that flying was his favorite part of Quidditch. Yes, the competition and the excitement and the danger of it all was great, but flying was truly amazing and the Italian knew he was lucky to be flying at all.

Daniel was surprised to arrive and find someone already on the field. He thought the field was supposed to be empty that day until 2 pm? When he looked around he couldn't see any other members of the Slytherin team. (And, if he wasn't mistaken, that guy was from Slytherin.)

Why was he here then? Daniel smiled. Maybe he liked flying just like Daniel did and decided to do what he himself had done. Daniel smiled wider. If he liked flying, he couldn't be that bad of a guy, right? Then Daniel was stuck. He didn't want to leave the field yet, but he didn't want to disturb the other either. If he came flying by himself, then he probably preferred doing it alone.

While he was normally a pretty selfless guy, he really, really didn't want to leave. He had been waiting for this for God knows how long! Deciding not to just rudely ignore the guy and go around flying, or scare the hell out of him by suddenly appearing, Daniel flew a little closer to him. Putting on his best grin, he waved at the Slytherin, hoping, praying, he wasn't the type to curse just because he was Gryffindor. (Not that he couldn't defend himself, no, far from it, he just didn't have his wand out and preferred not to get into a cursing-contest on the field.)

"Hey, sorry to disturb you! Do you mind if I fly around here for a while?" Not that it really mattered if the guy minded, Daniel wasn't going anywhere.

Suddenly, he had a rather bright idea, if he did say so himself.

"Do you play Quidditch? What do you play? Wanna play one-on-one?" Having fired off his questions, Daniel waited for the answer. He sincerely hoped the other was a Chaser or knew how to play it.

He had been enjoying the freedom and solitude of flying by himself, without a captain to tell him what to do, without teammates trying to order him around, without a trainer to belittle him for not doing things beyond his comfort zone. So being interrupted by anyone, even if it was someone who seemed to just want to enjoy the freedom of flying, made him want to rip off heads. Preferably this guy's.

Lovino turned to glare at him for the interruption, raising an eyebrow at him as he started talking. Normally he would immediately tell the other guy to just take a hike as soon as he was given the option to do so, but he got the feeling that this one would't accept that. He sighed. "It's... fine. You can stay and fly, I don't mind." Lies to avoid trouble kept the world moving smoothly and comfortably.

He turned away in hopes of forgetting about him after that, pausing to look back at him over his shoulder as he started talking about Quidditch. And... this guy was much too talkative. Most people asked one question at a time; this guy asked three. At least he was waiting patiently afterward instead of simply rambling on the way most people do.

"... Yes, Chaser, and... sure, why not?" A little game wouldn't hurt anything and getting to thoroughly defeat this guy would relieve some of the stress that formed when he was so rudely interrupted.

Daniel grinned. "Great!" But then a thought came to his mind. Do they even play one-on-one Quidditch the same way? "Er, how do you play one-on-one Quidditch? I mean, I have a way of doing it, but I'm not sure it's the same as yours." He hesitated for a moment. "I guess I will just explain how I do it and you can correct me if you would like to do it differently?"

Then he launched into the explanation. "The way we play it in Hungary is like one-on-one football." he paused for a moment. "Sorry, never mind that, you probably don't know what football is. Anyways, each person has their own hoop. Only one, not all three. The two players launch the Quaffle, and whichever one of them catches the ball tries to get it through the hoop. The other obviously tries to either stop him and snatch the ball away or guard his or her hoop. If you score, the ball is obviously the other's." finished Daniel.

"It's kind of the same as what we do during a match, only without the other players or balls." he grinned at the other. "Is that how you play or is there a difference?"

Lovino lounged on his broom as he listened to the other guy explain his way of playing one-on-one Quidditch. He tensed, an insulted expression coming to his face as the guy assumed that he had no idea what football was. How dare this idiotic little Gryffindor assume such a thing! He scowled, deciding that he was going to have to make this kid play against him in a game of football just to prove he knew what it was and how he was just superior to him.

He shrugged and sat up on the broom. "That sounds about right. I don't see any problem with playing it that way." He flew down to the Quidditch shed and pulled out the chest, pulling out the Quaffle and putting the chest away so none of the other balls escape. He wasn't going to do that again.

Lovino flew back up to the other guy and tossed the Quaffle at him. "Let's get started then, shall we?" He smirked slightly, waiting for him to throw the ball up into the air to start this off.

He caught the Quaffle the other had thrown at him easily. Daniel grinned at him, taking his faint smirk as a sign of excitement. "Of course."

He threw the ball in the air with all his might, waited a few seconds, and took off after it about the same time as the other guy. He used his slightly taller built to his advantage, and reached the ball a moment earlier than the other.

Not wasting any time, Daniel immediately took off towards the hoops, the Quaffle held securely in his right arm. He didn't even check if the other was following him; it was safe to assume that he was. He changed his course a few times randomly to make sure his opponent couldn't steal the ball from him. When he decided he was within range, he raised his arm and aimed the Quaffle straight at the middle hoop.

Damn, this kid was actually pretty good. And Lovino had finally remembered him; it was the guy who had ran in on him and Maria when they had been hiding from Filch. What fun.

Lovino hurried after him, coming up close behind him and just grabbing the ball out of his hand right before he went to through it. That both put the kid off balance and gave Lovino an advantage.

He quickly sped towards the other end of the field, going straight instead of doing an strange turns and loops like the other. He did have the advantage after all and losing it by taking longer to get the hoops would be a bad thing.

He quickly reached the hoops and tossed the Quaffle at the middle one without really looking to see where Daniel was, hoping that it would actually make it through without the Gryffindor popping up out of no where to stop it. He hoovered there briefly, watching the Quaffle on its journey.

((Sorry if this seems short; I really don't know how to roleplay a sports kind of thing.))

Daniel cursed under his breath. Damn it, he was too slow to throw the ball! Not wanting to waste a second more mourning the loss of the ball, he quickly turned his broom around and sped after the other. The guy was a 2 meters ahead of him tops, and trying to get the ball from him would only result in Daniel losing more time. So, without slowing down, Daniel bypassed underneath the other, trying to reach the hoop in time.

He could see he was still too far to catch the ball normally. His competitive side kicking in, he decided to use a reckless tactic; he stood up on his broom and jumped.

He managed to touch the ball with the tip of his fingers, effectively changing it's route and reducing it's speed. Then he fell back on his broom, wincing, his butt aching slightly from the collision. But it was worth it. The ball hit the hoop, but didn't go through it.

He grinned at his enemy. He was pretty good, a nice challenge. He reached a hand out, catching the Quaffle. This was going to be fun.

((I have no idea either, really. I have never done anything like this before.))

Growling faintly when the Gryffindor managed to divert the Quaffle enough that the ball hit the side of the hoop instead of going in, he spun on his broom to make himself calm down. This was a friendly game, he wasn't supposed to get so frustrated.

At least his opponent managed to get hurt though, which left Lovino feeling a might bit happier about his almost-goal. Even better, he hurt himself. Which meant that the Italian couldn't be blamed if the kid ever decided to complain about the pain in his ass.

He waited for the other kid to have the Quaffle in his hand before speeding over there and simply grabbing it from him, throwing it through the hoop quickly. It helped, that they were so close. And no, Lovino didn't care if that wasn't against the rules or not; he got a point and thus he was pleased.

Daniel narrowed his eyes at the other. That was a dick move! And unfortunately a very successful dick move. He flew back and quickly caught the ball; he couldn't let him win, goddamnit! Friendly game or not, he still wasn't going to lose!

For a moment, he stayed motionless, trying to come up with a tactic against the other. He grinned at his opponent. His tactic wasn't the most genius one out there, but it was worth a try. Leaning forward on his broom, he shot off quickly towards the other guy, looking ahead intently, the ball safely nestled under his arm. At the last moment, he lied down on his broom as much as he could and passed underneath his opponent, one of his elbows slightly touching the other's leg.

Using the one second advantage his stunt gave him, he continued towards the hoop. This time he wouldn't give him a chance to steal the ball! He was still barely past the half-pitch mark, but he decided to risk it. He quickly calculated the distance and the force needed in his mind, abruptly came to a stop, and threw the ball at the hoop with all his might.

Daniel couldn't help the grin overtaking his features when his opponent couldn't stop the ball from entering the hoop.

Lovino could only smirk at the narrow-eyed look on the other boy's face after he managed to get a point. He knew that it had been a dirty move, but honestly he didn't care how dirty he played if it meant he could win. However, he decided not to try that move twice in a row. It would only make the kid angry and Lovino didn't want to deal with his temper.

Pausing as the other kid got a weird look on his face, his eyes widened in slight fear as the Gryffindor shot towards him. Quickly barrel rolling out of the way before he could get run into - though his leg still brushed up against the kid - he took a moment to reorient himself before racing after him.

And that watched with mounting frustration as the kid managed to land an honest goal from almost half-way across the pitch. While Lovino probably could have done the same if he tried hard enough, it pissed him off that the kid managed to get the first real point of the game - because even though his point did count in the grand scheme of things, Lovino didn't count it in his personal scoring.

Flying quickly to grab the ball, he didn't even pause to look at his opponent. Instead, he shot down the field, going as quickly as he could to the other hoops.

Daniel couldn't help but grin at the obvious frustration of his opponent. He knew the goal he landed was an impressive one, and the other guy knew it too. It was probably not the nicest thing, but he loved to see the frustration, anger, or the surprise on his opponents' faces after a successful shot.

When the other started towards the other end of the field, Daniel wasted no time. He shot after him just as quickly, although that half a second and his slightly smaller build gave his opponent a bit of an advantage. He started to calculate his chances; go after the guy and try to take the ball or go and guard the hoop? Judging by the stiff shoulders of the other, he was probably very much determined to shoot a goal. And Daniel was very much determined to not let him.

He flew a few meters up, and sped up even more. He reached the hoops a second or so after his opponent stopped to shoot. Daniel quickly turned around and waited. He was just 2 meters above the hoop. If the other shot the ball now, Daniel could stop it relatively easily. If not, well, he could always try to steal the ball away.

Lovino frowned as he watched the kid get ahead of him, tilting his head faintly as he thought. He could throw it now, but that would give his opponent too much time to catch it. Or he could wait until he was closer to the hoop, but that would put him a bit too close to the no throw zone and he might run into it before he could actually take the shoot.

Deciding that he simply had to risk it, he flew faster and came to a dead stop beneath the kid, throwing the Quaffle and grinning as it successfully went through the hoop. Unfortunately, the dead stop almost knocked him off his broom and he ended up swinging around it. He clung to his broom as he waited for the kid to get the Quaffle, practically hugging the thing.

He huffed and sat up, telling himself that he wasn't a coward for doing that. Anyone else would have done the same if they had nearly fallen off their broom from so high up. Watching the other kid, he silently waited for him to make the next move.

Daniel cursed under his breath. He was so close, the tip of his finger almost touching the ball, and it still went through! He caught the Quaffle and glared down at it bitterly. He looked at the other and immediately widened his eyes. He was clinging to his broom as if his life depended on it. Maybe his broom was malfunctioning? Or it was cursed? "Hey, are you alright?" he asked, worried. But the other didn't seem to hear him.

After a bit of struggling his opponent managed to right himself and was watching him expectantly. Well, he wasn't about to disappoint. He shot out towards his hoops, deciding to use one of the most ancient tactics: brutal force. He was taller and somewhat more muscular than his opponent, so if he flew fast enough, he wouldn't be able to get the ball from him without breaking his own arm. This tactic was rarely effective during real matches, of course, but without the Beaters there, it had a big chance of being successful.

He knew that if he made it within a 10 meter radius of the hoops, he had no chance of missing.

Damn it, he knew being smaller was going to come up to bite him in the ass. Lovino huffed and flew after him, trying to figure out how to get the ball from him without hurting himself. Despite being a Quidditch player, he truly despised getting hurt. He would have been a Beater to avoid that if he could have only hit the bludgers hard enough to keep them from killing him.

But he was getting distracted (which happened a bit too often for his liking) and his opponent was getting closer to the hoops without anyway of stopping him. Growling faintly, Lovino flew under the Gryffindor before changing direction and flying straight up at him, catching his shoulder with the tip of his broom and making the bigger teen spin. The Italian kicked the ball out of his grip, using the fact that his surprised made said grip loosen, and caught the ball.

He quickly flew back to his own hoops, glancing down at his broom to make sure he hadn't broken it doing that stunt. He didn't have the money to replace it and he knew the school would make him do so if it was too broken to play with. Thankfully, there didn't seem to be a single crack on it.

Daniel quickly took control of his broom and flew after his opponent, a heavy frown set on his lips. Were this a real match, that move would have meant a penalty for him. He glared at the other's back. True, it was a bit unfair to use his superior height and weight, but he could have simply flown in front of him to slow him down and attempt to take the ball. The move he pulled was a very risky one. Had Daniel been a worse player, he would have fallen off.

Still, his move had worked. But Daniel wasn't about to let him score another goal. He grinned suddenly. He was going to do something dangerous, reckless and spectacular. It was his favorite move back home and their coach always shouted at him for at least ten minutes for doing it, which Daniel never understood. It never failed to get him the ball, get his teammates in a good mood and he never got injured.

He lied down on his broom in order to go faster and get a few meters ahead his opponent. Then he stood up on his broom and jumped, executing a perfect back-flip and, using his opponent's surprise, stole the ball from him. He almost grinned in triumph when he realized he miscalculated the distance. He was a few inches behind his broom and starting to fall. He quickly stretched his legs and wrapped them around the broom's tail. He brought the broom closer to him and sat back a mere meter away from the ground. He flew towards his hoops quickly, all the while trying to calm his racing heart. It wasn't the closes he came to falling, but damn was it more than close enough.

Yes, that had been a bit of a dick move. But really, Lovino didn't have time to deal with jerks who thought that being bigger was the most important thing in the world. While Lovino was sure this guy didn't feel that way - as he was a Gryffindor and most of those types didn't care about size or silly things like that - he still wasn't going to let him use it.

Lost in his thoughts as he was, Lovino was completely shocked when Daniel popped up in front of him and flipped off of his broom, grabbed the Quaffle, and then proceeded to fall to the ground. He stared for a moment before going after him, trying to catch him. Because while they were opponents in this game, it was just that; a game. They didn't need someone dying because of a game.

He slowed to a stop only when he saw that the other had caught himself, relaxing. Because he knew that no one was going to trust a Slytherin who comes in with a close to dead Gryffindor when they say it's an accident. "I think we should stop now." He called out, flying after him. Once it got to the point of near death in a friendly game, Lovino got ready to call it quits.

Daniel stopped and turned around, staring at the guy. Did he just say that they should stop? Was he boring him already? No, that couldn't be, he couldn't be that bad. Maybe he wanted to stop because he was in the lead? Sure, it was only one point but it would still mean he won the game. Daniel looked at his face, frowning. He didn't look like someone who would cheat just so they could win. Sure, he had some pretty dick moves, but those were parts of the game. Stopping the game just so he could win was another thing entirely.

Although his roommates told him a lot about Slytherins being sly, cheating, cowardly bastards, Daniel never truly believed them. There might have been some of them who were like that, but definitely not all. He knew about the rivalry between the two houses, he could even sense the animosity sometimes. Still, this guy accepted to play with him without showing any signs of dislike and hadn't insulted him once. If he was like what his roommates said he should have ignored, cursed, or shouted at him already. Which wasn't the case. Maybe he was simply tired? Quidditch was a tiring sport after all.

He simply shrugged. "Sure, if you want to. I guess it's your win then." he said, wrinkling his nose at the end. He hated losing. Really, really hated losing. But he wasn't about to be a jerk and demand to go on if his opponent wanted to stop.

Lovino blinked and looked confused for a minute when the guy told him it was his game, having forgotten that he was even in the lead. "... Oh. So it is." If Lovino had remembered that earlier he wouldn't have stopped the game so soon. Still, it felt nice to win even if he did cheat a bit doing so.

Seeing the disappointed look on his opponent's face, Lovino fidgeted slightly. He felt bad for doing this, really. He hadn't meant to cheat this guy out of the win; he thought for sure that the other guy was in the lead. Plus, he just didn't want either of them to get injured, which was sure to happen if they kept going the way they had been.

"You want to get something to eat?" The offer was out of his mouth before he even realized what he was saying, and he cursed himself out silently. What was he thinking? Sure, it was a nice offer, but he didn't know anything about this guy and really didn't want to go eat with him. But, unfortunately, now he was stuck. He could only hope this guy said no.

He raised an eyebrow at his opponent. It almost seemed like he was surprised he had won. That was...odd to say the least. But it was proof that he didn't stop the match because he wanted to win. That was nice. Not that he would have done anything if the guy did that to cheat. He would have had no proof.

He stared at the other in surprise. He was asking him to go and eat with him? That was unexpected. But not at all unpleasant. Daniel grinned at him. "Sure, why not?" he said. It was nice of him to invite him. But why would he do that? Surely not out of pity. He shrugged it off. Maybe he was just being nice, there was no need to look for any ulterior motive. He started descending with his broom to go and put the Quaffle away. They couldn't just leave it outside or the Professor would have their heads.

Addicts of Flying [Lovino][Closed] Empty

He ignored the other guy's look as he flew down to the broom shed, hopping off of his broom and putting it in there. He spared a glance towards all of the fancy new not school brooms that were used by everyone else and wished for just a moment that he had one of his own. Sadly, t'was not meant to be. But oh well, he didn't need a new broom. He could deal with a shitty school broom.

Hiding a scowl, Lovino nodded. There went his hopes of this guy saying no. Oh well; all he had to do was get through one meal with the guy and then they would never have to see each other again. "Alright then." He started to walk up to the castle, rightly assuming that the other guy would follow right behind him. He would take the guy to the kitchens, have the house elves feed him, and then they would part ways happily enough.

He flew to the ground and hopped off his broom, his aching bum protesting to his movements. He winced silently. He loved that move of his really, but damn if it didn't leave his rear-end aching for a few days. Ignoring the pain in his butt, Daniel made his way to the Professor's office located under the stands. He put the Quaffle back in its place and replaced the protective charms on the chest. (Not that they were all that effective if so many students knew how to break them.)

He put his beloved broom over his shoulder and walked out towards the broom shed. He could see the other guy staring at the brooms inside wistfully and almost felt bad for having such a beautiful, polished to perfection, new-looking broom. Almost. That guy still beat him, even with a worse broom, which was a painful blow to Daniel's pride. 'Can't win them all' he tried to console himself, without much effect. He really, really hated losing.

He was snapped out of his self-pity when the other started to walk towards the castle. Oh, right, they were going to go and get something to eat. He quickly followed the guy and wondered if he meant eating together or just eating in general. Surely, if Slytherin and Gryffindor hated each other that much, they couldn't sit by the same table.

Lovino didn't bother waiting or slowing down for the other male. He was taller, he would be able to catch up soon enough. And if Lovino happened to lose him on the way then that was fine by him. Especially since this guy didn't know where the kitchens were and thus Lovino would be able to pretend that it was the other guy's fault that they weren't able to eat together.

Unfortunately for that little plan, the other guy caught up with him soon enough. Crossing his arms and looking down at his feet, he glanced up at the guy next to him. He felt that it was incredibly unfair that someone could be the tall. Then again, his grandfather and all of the male teachers were the same height. So apparently Lovino was just below average.

"What's your name?" He wondered. He thought he knew it, but then the Italian couldn't say he was good with names. And if he called this guy by the wrong name, he might just offend him. Again, not a bad thing, but he really didn't want to deal with the people he had pissed off, not here. It would just be too much really.

Daniel could see the other guy watching him and crossing his arms from the corner of his eye. What was his problem? Maybe he didn't want to walk next to him, afraid that his housemates would see him walking with a Gryffindor? Maybe he wanted him to keep his distance? But if he was worried about being seen, why would he offer to eat with him? Daniel shook his head. This guy was such an enigma.

Daniel blinked at the other, kind of amazed. They had played Quidditch together for almost an hour and they didn't even know each other's names. Quidditch does bring people together, Daniel mused inwardly. "Daniel Héderváry" he said, holding out a hand for the other. Now that they were closer, the other looked kind of familiar. I must have bumped into him once or twice in the corridors. he thought.
