| The cold, stone dorm room wasn't an unfamiliar sight as Anne entered the Slytherin girl's dorm. She spotted her trunk next to a four-poster bed, conveniently located just left of a window. Perfect, she always loved having a view. More often than not, if she was given a bed not near the window, she'd switch out the trunks (provided the roommate with the window wasn't in the room yet) and "steal" the spot. However, it seemed the House Elves had noted her preference and, for the past two years, provided her with an aptly named "window spot". While most Slytherins looked down upon the creatures, she had always found them to be helpful little fellows and greatly appreciated their work, mainly because she never had to do anything they did.
The Briton walked over and pushed back the green curtains hanging around the bed, sitting and glancing around. No one had arrived yet, though their trunks were there. To cure her boredom, she created a small game of "Guess What's Inside", debating on the dark artifacts or hidden secrets each roommate might have. Or perhaps their fashion sense. Her grumpy Scottish Fold, affectionately named Shakespeare, jumped up next to her, settling on her pillow. She reached over to scratch behind his ears, earning a withering glance from the feline. She snorted in response, noting from his purring that he enjoyed it anyhow.

| Really, how stupid could these uncultured barbarians actually be? How could they make such a huge mistake? Did they forget about her, Marianne Victoire Bonnefoy? That was unacceptable, outrageous, and impossible. No one forgot about her. No one. Revenge was in order.
She scoffed at the door in front of her, her hand gripping the knob tightly. They placed her in a fifth year room. With four or so other girls who were all 15. While Marianne didn't have anything against younger people or girls for that matter, she sincerely hoped she would be put together with girls her age. She wanted to be roommates with 17-18 year olds, hopefully 'making friends' with them. Older students were bound to be more interesting than these youngsters.
Well, there was nothing she could do, unless she decided to sleep on the floor in one of the seventh year rooms, which was a big no-no. She let out a heavy sigh and forced a polite smile on her lips. She turned the knob and entered the room, its only occupant catching her eyes immediately.
"Bonjour, je m'appelle Marianne Bonnefoy. I am going to be your roommate for a little while." She smiled and curtsied, waiting for her future roommate to introduce herself as well.

| Anne blanched as an obviously French young woman entered her dorm and curtsied. A look of disgust crossed her face and she crossed her arms over her chest, suddenly hyper-aware of the differences between her own slightly-frumpy-though-respectable appearance and this girl's fashion-oriented one, as well as the differences in their physical appearance. Not to mention the girl looked far too old to be in a fifth year dorm. Had the Headmaster made a mistake? Perhaps the girl was merely lost, though she severely doubted it, no matter how much she wished it true. Her eyebrows furrowed as she scowled, taking an instant dislike to the girl due to her heritage and appearance. It seemed her own background as a Kirkland had rubbed off on her.
"We're in the UK," she stated, monotone, not bothering to introduce herself, "speak English." She went back to petting her cat and withdrew a novel from her trunk, a thick tome about the history of modern household charms and how they came to be. While some might find it boring, Anne had always had an interest in the history of spells and the linguistics of them. She had half an impulse to learn the Latin language to better understand them, though she never acted upon it.

| Smile completely dropping from her face, Marianne straightened up and looked over the rude brat she was forced to room with. She almost snorted, but managed to hold it back in the last second. Her roommate wasn't ugly, sure, but she was just so horribly plain. Faded blonde hair, eyebrows a bit thicker than normal, pale skin, petite build, and...Marianne almost smirked in vindictive glee; no chest at all.
She started playing with a strand of her own silky brown hair, a condescending smile on her face. She wrapped an arm around herself under her breasts, pushing her assets up, making sure to show the twerp their obvious differences.
"You're awfully rude. Not that I would expect anything better from a rosbif like yourself. However, like it or not, and don't worry I certainly don't, I will be rooming with you until further notice. We can either get along or you can be my enemy. I wouldn't advise you do the later, but it is your choice, Méchante sorcière." Her smile never once left her face during her little rant. If the midget thought she could tell a Bonnefoy what to do, she was gravely mistaken.

| ((Hi, my name is Mei and ihopeyoudon'tmindifijointhisthread))
When Mei reached the dorms, she was pretty sure that she wasn't anywhere close to the fourth year dorms. However, as she thought about it, as an exchange student, there was probably a special dorm or something for them, or they just plain screwed up. Whatever the reason was, she just hoped that her new roommates weren't catty girls. Good lord, her suitcase was heavy. Barely managing to turn the doorknob just enough to release it from the door frame's hold, she kicked the door open, and threw her suitcase down on the ground. Spotting the second bed from the door, she quickly ran over and flung her backpack onto it, and as she was about to go back and get her suitcase, she noticed the tension in the air, and it was only then she realized there were two other girls in the room besides her. This was awkward.
The animosity between the two was glaringly obvious judging bye the looks on their faces. Looks like her wishes didn't come true, but thinking about it, if she needed something done, she could use this rivalry to her advantage...provided that she didn't manage to make the both of them hate her first. Friendliness was the key here, though the younger blonde girl seemed a bit hard to get along with it. Grinning widely, with the friendliest voice she could muster in the presence of these...somewhat malicious looking girls.
"Hi! My name is Chen Wan-Mei, but you can carl me Mei!"'
Deciding it would make for a good shield if something did go wrong, she walked back over to where her suitcase was, awaiting a reply.

| (Hi there! Welcome! Of course you can join~)
Anne's eyes rolled involuntarily as the Frenchwoman stuck out her chest and assumed a superior air. How very typical. She flicked her pigtails behind her shoulders, not bothering to dignify the girl with any sort of jealous or annoyed look. She wouldn't give her that advantage, despite being painfully aware of her lack of assets or manicured features (though her eyebrows were normal and nowhere near as horrid as Arthur's). A small part of her was encourage to put more effort into her appearance, to not dress in such a frumpy fashion, but she quickly shoved it down and stuffed it in a box in the depths of her inner-self. She wouldn't give the girl that kind of satisfaction. She'd be frumpy and she'd enjoy it.
She gave Marianne a bored look as she spoke, not bothering to respond. She didn't care if the Frenchwoman had a golden shoe, as long as she left and didn't leave even a whiff of Chanel No. 5.
Instead, the Briton turned her attention to the new girl that had entered, who looked slightly young for a fifth year. Part of her was terribly amused by the girl, who appeared to be Asian. She was extremely enthusiastic, or so it seemed. Anne merely nodded in response to the girl's introduction, deciding there was no harm in being nice to young Mei. "Kirkland. Anne Kirkland," she introduced, fully expecting the girl to know full-well about her family (though it would make sense if none of the exchange students did, but that hardly mattered to her).

| She smiled triumphantly when the rosbif turned away, the shadow of jealousy passing over her eyes not going unnoticed by the Frenchwoman. Good. Marianne wouldn't allow someone of obviously lower status to be rude to her; not that she would have allowed anyone from her social rank to be rude either, but they usually had manners.
She looked at the short Asian girl who had entered their (she couldn't help grimacing at that) room. She was cute and, by the looks of things, an enthusiastic person. Much better than the frumpy little Brit. "Marianne Bonnefoy. Pleasure to meet you, Mei." She introduced herself, smiling. Looks like the atmosphere in their room wouldn't be constantly frosty after all.
She glanced at Her Frumpiness from the corner of her eye. Did she just say Kirkland? That Kirkland? One of the most powerful pure-blood families of England? And, regrettably, the ones whom her father wanted her to befriend. Lovely, simply lovely. That wasn't going to happen, not in a million years. She would rather befriend the whole family than go anywhere near this rude b-girl.

| Seeing that they became slightly more pleasant, Mei casually dragged her suitcase over to her bed, faced the two girls, and started unpacking. But why, why, did one have to have a... French accent? They had the hardest accents to understand, however she'd cope. Addressing Marianne, her voice relaxed as she said, "Nice to meet you Marreeeiine! Are you a oversees student too?" Taking a few seconds to remember the other girl's name, it started with an "a..." Oh right Anne! And her last name... Kirkland, that sounded familiar.... "Kirkland...OH, COSTCO BRAND!" Not realizing she had spoken out loud she turned glanced up slightly, and grinned, "Hi to you arso Anne! I like your glasses!"
Even if Anne did look a bit hard to get along with, her glasses suited her perfectly, though she wondered what Anne looked like without glasses, but that was another story for another day. Then, as she looked up a bit more...
In the name that was good and pure...
Was..that...a...cat?
Stiffening up, her eyes locked on the frightening feline. Of all animals and creatures, why did she have to end up with a roommate with a cat? Eyes frozen in fear, she just sat, and stared.

| To say Anne was confused would be a massive understatement. Costco brand? What in the world was a Costco and what the world was a brand? Did she mean one of those brands? She knew he family was horrid, but she never thought they'd brand someone. But that still didn't answer what a Costco was. Was it a person? Had someone in her family branded someone? That would definitely create some problems, it would seem.
"Er, thanks," she murmured, unsure of what one said when her glasses her complimented. Really, they were simple and plain. Her mother often spoke of some new potion that would fix her site, but the risks were too great. Anne decided that glasses really weren't much of a hassle, after that, especially compared to, say, blindness.
After the introduction, the Brit followed Mei's line of site to her cat, quirking an eyebrow curiously at the new girl's frightened demeanor. Had she been put in a room with someone terrified of cats? This year was definitely proving to be interesting.
"That's Shakespeare," she pointed out, albeit unhelpfully. "He's... a bit of a beast. Just stay out of his way, I suppose. He won't harm you. Unless you step on him."

| She giggled at her overly drawn out name. This new girl was cute, she had to give her that. "Oui, I'm from France." She liked the Britbitch's glasses? Really, how adorable, complimenting something like the unfashionable and ugly pair of glasses the other girl wore. Looks like she would have an interesting roommate too.
She opened up her trunk, starting to unpack her neatly folded clothes, which took up almost all of the space inside. What was a girl without her wardrobe? Something like that frumpy roommate, most probably. Thankfully, such girls were very rare in France, if they even existed that is.
She was listening to her roommates' conversation half-heartedly; one never knew when the perfect blackmail material came up. She looked up and stared at the frumpy girl's cat, Shakespeare, was it? She snorted slightly. How typical of a rosbif to name their cat after their only truly famous writer. She glanced at her younger roommate, raising an eyebrow slightly. Oh, so she was afraid of cats? Valuable information, that was.

| With a small sigh, Anne pulled the aforementioned cat onto her lap, keeping him still. The girl seemed wary of the animal and slightly shaky, something that caused the Briton to give a slight frown. It wouldn't do to have a roommate that was allergic to an animal that would be living with them throughout the year. Perhaps the girl was merely scared. That might make the situation easier, though knowing Shakespeare he'd go out of his way to harass anyone or thing that set out to avoid him. Despite his present growling, Anne kept him situated so that he wouldn't move. Deftly, as one who has owned a cat for a long time does, she scratched behind his ears, causing a pleasant rumble of purrs to erupt from the warm, furry animal. Perhaps he'd be more inclined to stay in one place now. | |

| Hearing Anne's voice snapped Mei out of her fear-induced trance. She tried to plaster a smile on her face, and then she noticed Marianne looking at her with a raised eyebrow. It wouldn't do to have one of her roommates - an older one at that - learn of just how vulnerable she was around cats, so she forced herself to speak. "Ahh..Shakespeare, he had good writings and his stories were interesting. What made you want to name him after Shakespeare?" While patiently waiting for uhh Anne to reply, she noticed Marianne's suitcase.
She had to say she was impressed with the fashion collection in there. Thinking out loud she said, "Wow, is that Chanel?" Mei had to admit, this girl had taste. Hopefully, with their mutual like in fashion, Marianne and her would get along quite well. She flopped onto her bed, hopefully safe from Shakespeare and judgement.
((Gah, sorry - late and short and not that great reply >_>;;))

| ((Umm, I think we should have a posting order of sorts. How about Anne-->Mei-->Marianne?))
Ah, she noticed. Marianne was impressed that the young girl noticed her stare and even tried hiding her weakness. Maybe there were some interesting people in Slytherin after all. But that meant she would start getting more cautious around Marianne. That would be too bad; she seemed like an entertaining girl.
She was just pulling out a blouse from her bag when she heard the awe-struck voice of Mei. She smiled at her. "Indeed it is, my friend. Are you interested in fashion?" If her little roommate liked fashion, then they would be good friends fast. Marianne lived for fashion, among other things. "Both muggle and magical designers are quite popular in France. Have you ever heard of Christian Lacroix? He is one of my favorites." He was the most brilliant fashion designer wizard of their age without a doubt.
