| Elise exited the Hufflepuff common room. Anyone with intentions of stopping her would find that wasn’t an easy task. She was a girl on a mission. With her being a social creature, it wasn’t long until one of her housemates revealed the location of the kitchens to her. And that was exactly where she was headed right now. Classes were over for today, and the homework she had could wait.
She was delighted to find out they were located right next to her common room. When she still went to Beauxbatons, she had to walk through half the castle to get to the kitchens. This certainly was a welcome change. She looked for a painting with a fruit bowl, one other than the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room, that is. It was rather big, so not easy to miss. When she found it, Elise reached up and tickled the pear. It giggled and changed into a large green doorknob.
After opening the door, Elise looked her eyes out. Like expected, the kitchens were beautiful (although it had to be said, not as pretty as the ones in Beauxbatons). The room was as large as the Great Hall, high ceilings, four long tables, a great brick fireplace and countless pots and pans stacked around the stone walls.
She was almost instantly surrounded by little house-elves, asking her if she wanted anything. She was a little overwhelmed at all the sudden attention. So much that she almost didn’t notice bumping into another student that happened to be there. “Ah, désolé,” She accidentally slipped out in French. |

| Francis sighed. It was a long and deep sigh of boredom. He did have homework, yes. But who would do homework on a beautiful Sunday morning? Yes, no one. Not if you’re not one of those Ravenclaw booknerds. Though they were cute booknerds, he had to admit.
His two best friends were still asleep. Just like most people. Francis walked through the common room, restlessly. He wanted to do something fun, yet productive. Pierre flew in right that moment with the Sunday edition of the news paper. He took it and threw it on the couch. Pierre happily cooed and flew away. Probably; to do something fun.
Francis checked again if no one was coming down. It didn’t seem like it so, he decided to do his favourite hobby, which he had abandoned lately: Cooking. He walked out the Slytherin Common room and made his way upstairs. He greeted some early birds along the way who were about to head for either breakfast or the library to study. Both not very exciting or interesting activities.
Now what Francis was about to do was very exciting and interesting. He sneaked past the common room of hufflepuff right to the kitchen. He had done this many times before. The elves knew him by now and didn’t really mind his presence. Yet, the teachers didn’t know about it and it was kind of against the rules so he had to be careful.
Inside there were only a little amount of elves at work. He sat down at one of the closest tables and opened his own cooking book. He had decided what he would make but on the way of getting some supplies he bumped into a, exchange student, mind you a very beautiful one. “Ah it’s okay. Are you alright, mademoiselle?” he said as he took her hand and pressed a kiss on it and looked up with a gentle smile. His eyes meeting hers. He hadn’t seen her before, he knew that much.

| Elise did know that students weren’t supposed to come into the kitchens, it was no different from her old school. Still, she got away with it on Beauxbatons, and she figured that she could at least give it a try here as well. Besides, she wouldn’t learn anything new if she didn’t practice. So when she bumped into the other, she was afraid for a moment that she’d been caught. However, the guy turned out to be more concerned if she was alright then to bust her for being somewhere where she wasn’t supposed to be. Perhaps he was too. She had heard more students would visit the kitchens every once in a while.
“Oh, oui, I am,” She confirmed, going slightly red in the face at the kiss he placed on her hand. For a moment she didn’t know if she should think about him as a gentleman or a creeper. Though the one word he spoke in a different language gave explained a lot. He was French. He sounded more... British than she heard from other French people talking English, but the accent was definitely there. Maybe he had been living here for a while already. “You’re French?” She asked with mild curiosity.
Then something else came to mind. “Oh, I’m not disturbing you, am I? I wanted to try out a few recipes. It’s a... hobby,” She said, using hobby for lack of a better word. A passion would maybe be a better description, but saying to someone you only just met that you’re passionate about something. She thought that would sound kind of weird.
But maybe he liked cooking as well, and was here for the same reason as she. Another look around the kitchen told her it was certainly large enough for the both of them. If he wanted to cook too, there was enough room, so they wouldn’t stand in each other’s way while working. Then again, it had been a while since she had someone to cook with. Maybe this guy would be interested in making something together with her. He seemed nice enough, and it could be fun. |
