| Often when eating, Lovino thought of nothing but the food. Rich tastes with completely wonderful attention to detail, he never had to think about anything else when it came to eating. He would leave the meal completely relaxed and almost completely unfazed by his troubles from before.
Unfortunately for his mental health and the health of his house mates, the food at Hogwarts - though better than most English places could boast of - was not good enough. Not once before had the Italian ever considered himself spoiled by the food in his own country, until he had come here and saw just what he would be forced to suffer through. Even with his breaks to cook in the kitchens, displacing the house elves for those moments, left him feeling unhappy and grouchy. While this was not an uncommon state of mind for him, he hated having to go through with it when normally he got at least two times a day when he could relax.
And now, now he approached every meal with a heavyset scowl that only went away when he got to his Potions class and was back by the time dinner came around. He had driven away most of his classmates this way, the Englishmen not understanding his hatred of the food and his foreign classmates understanding all to well just how much the lack of quality in the food could leave a person. And even then, there were only two others in the entire school that Lovino felt actually understood what he was feeling.
Both of them were people he was related to and thus he had no desire to complain to them, especially when he had heard both of them talk of liking the food. How they could was beyond him. However, something Lovino had noticed was that the Slytherins often got the leftovers when it came to the food the house elves were serving. Which meant that the other tables got better food. Therefore, the Italian decided he would eat at one of those tables.
He knew that the teachers got the best of the best, but he wasn't allowed to sit up there since - surprise surprise - he wasn't a teacher. So he went to the next best table: Gryffindor. He had heard all about the rivalry between his and the lion's houses, but he wasn't going to let anything get in the way of him eating quality food. Not even a stupid tradition that was in place for stupid reasons.
He strode into the Great Hall as if he owned it, looking over the tables and easily spotting the Gryffindor one; it was the empty table. For some reason, being a Gryffindor meant they slept in. Lovino would have loved to have joined them, but his year mates refused to let him sleep in. Well, let's see what they had to say about this little act then. With a small little smirk, he walked over to the empty table and sat down at a random spot halfway down with his back to the Hufflepuffs rather than to the Ravenclaws and Slytherins. He knew better than to trust either of those later houses, and with a family member in the former one he might stand a better chance of not getting bothered.
Ignoring the silence that swept through the hall at his action - followed by sudden whispers from every corner - Lovino waited for the food to appear. He also watched the doors, prepared to defend his spot here even against the Gryffindors themselves, the people who would most readily fight his decision to sit there.

| Although he was a foreigner and loved his country's cuisine with all his heart, Daniel simply couldn't understand what the other exchange students' problem was with the food here. Sure, that menthol cream or whatever you were supposed to eat with meat was strange and truth to be told, very much disgusting. Who the hell would eat menthol with meat? That was just weird. Also, pumpkin pie was simply icky, but that was nothing more than his dislike of pumpkin acting up.
Maybe it was the fact that Hungarian cuisine contained some things foreigners might find disgusting, just like English cuisine. Daniel was pretty much used to eating part of animals that no foreigner would ever dream of. (The stomach of a pig filled with other entrails being a perfect example.) Still, he had to admit, the flavors were a little bland. He was used to lots and lots of paprika, pepper, cumin, etc. But he wasn't about to complain about silly things like food. He could always write home and beg his mother to send him something truly delicious.
Another thing that was very hard to get used to was eating breakfast. As in, eating lots of breakfast. At home, the only major meal of the day was lunch, with minor meals like breakfast, dinner, maybe a little snack before or after lunch. But he never ate breakfast and rarely at dinner. So, having two major meals instead of one was strange and unfamiliar to him. Even after being here for a few weeks, he still couldn't eat more than a piece of toast for breakfast and he was starving by midday.
Which is why he was in absolutely no hurry to get up and go down for breakfast, something his fellow Gryffindors were keen on doing as well. Why should they get up early when they had more than enough time to get ready and not be late to their classes? Although he liked to sleep in, Daniel was still usually one of the first Gryffindors down. He always got up before his roommates, dressed, and went down to eat his piece of toast.
That's exactly what he did that morning as well. He entered the Great Hall as he always did; resembling a zombie which had escaped its tomb minutes before. He was definitely not a morning person. He could see the Gryffindor table was, as always, almost completely empty. There was only one person sitting there. For some reason the guy looked a bit out of place sitting there, but Daniel shrugged it off.
He made his way over to his housemate and sat down next to him. "Morning." he said, already reaching for his toast.

| He paused as the food arrived, staring down at it. What if it was just as nasty as the food at Slytherin? He might actually start crying if that happened. Taking a deep breath, he started eating. And was then proven correct in his earlier theory. While it still didn't hold up to his standards, it was better than the garbage at the Slytherin table and so Lovino decided that he would just never eat at the other table again.
And no, he didn't care if he wasn't allowed to. The school was a breeding ground of bigots and prejudices, and they had managed to make even the house elves biased against the Slytherins. While most of the time Lovino felt almost as if he didn't belong in the house of green and silver, he knew that they weren't as bad as people liked to say they were.
Sighing, he just went back to eating and ignored everyone who came over to talk to him. Lovino knew what most of them were going to do; throw accusations out about how he was betraying his house and all that crap. Honestly, people took that separation far too seriously. What was the point of it? It wouldn't matter once they had left school.
Tensing and looking up as someone sat down next to him, he silently cursed his ability to get so easily lost in his thoughts. Blinking when he noticed that it was just Daniel, he relaxed and went back to eating. "Good morning." He wondered if he should say something else, but decided that if Daniel wanted to talk with him he would have to start it.

| Daniel nodded at the other's greeting, staring at his piece of toast intently. What should he put on it? Butter? Jam? Marmite? He almost shuddered at the las option. Hell no, no marmite. But he was getting tired of eating the same thing for breakfast over and over again. However, that was the only thing he could stomach so early in the morning. During his first few breakfasts he had tried eating eggs, ham, tuna, etc., which made him feel like there was a huge rock in his stomach for the rest of the day. No, continuing to eating only toast was for the best.
But that cereal looked especially inviting that day. Anything but toast, really. Daniel stared at the cereal intently. Would it be safe like toast? Or kill his day like the others? Only one way to find out. He grabbed a bowl and half filled it with cereal, pouring some milk on it. There it was. The only thing left to do is eat.
The cereal was bland, flavorless, and soggy from the milk, but Daniel was elated that he finally wasn't eating toast. He was usually somewhat more awake after he had eaten, which was the case now as well. And a more awake Daniel was a friendlier, more talkative Daniel. "So, what's up?" he asked without looking at his companion, preoccupied with his cereal.

| Generally, when it came to breakfast, Lovino ate the smallest amount that he could and just drank lots of coffee, but it was so rare that he had a good meal that he decided to be a glutton and fill his plate with one of everything. Except fish; he knew logically that it tasted but he just couldn't stand the way it felt in his mouth.
The Italian tensed slightly as more and more Gryffindors started coming into the hall, all of them stopping on their way to sit down when they noticed him sitting at their tables. He found it amusing to note that while the UK-born and bred Gryffindors all glared darkly and sat as far away from him as possible, the foreign exchange students all just greeted him and then went about eating.
Lovino looked over at Daniel as he started talking, absently pushing his food around on his plate. He took a bite of it and shrugged. "Nothing much really. And with you?" He wondered just when the younger teen would notice the person he was sitting next to.

| Daniel hated coffee. The smell, the taste, the look, everything about it was just...ew. He never drank coffee, not even on the brink of passing out from exhaustion. He didn't really like tea either, at least not in the morning, which made his friends question how could he go from a sleepy zombie to his usual cheerful self. He himself had no idea how or why he did that.
He watched his housemates sit down by their table with an eyebrow raised slightly. Most of his fellow Gryffindors glared in his direction and sat as far away from him as possible. What was their problem? He was sure he didn't smell or look funny. He glanced down at himself sneakily, wondering if in his sleepy state of mind he forgot dress up or something. But no, he was fully clothed and completely decent. He blinked in confusion. What the hell was with them...?
"Nothin' much, it's just much, much too early." he said, turning to look at the other. He widened his eyes at what, or rather, who he saw. Of course he was familiar, Daniel knew him! "Lovino? What are you doing at the Gryffindor table?" he asked, confused. Why was a Slytherin sitting by their table? Wasn't there like a rule or something against it? His housemates' glares made sense now. They were glaring at Lovino, a Slytherin, for sitting at their table.

| Lovino continued eating his meal, watching the Gryffindors in continued amusement. They were so childish. Then again, he could see his own house sending glares in his direction as well. And the Ravenclaws looked both confused and interested, which was never a good combination when it came to the house of intellectuals. And the Hufflepuffs... from the sounds of it, not one of them gave a damn. Which was nice; as much as the rest of the school made fun of Hufflepuffs, they were probably the best house of the school.
The Italian looked over at Daniel as he started talking again, only to see that the Gryffindor was now finally looking at him for the first time. And thus only just now noticing that there was a Slytherin sitting right next to him. "Mm, yes. It is a bit early." Not too too early, but it was early. "This table has better food than the Slytherin table, so I decided to eat here today." And for the rest of the year. But Daniel didn't really need to know that, now did he?

| He looked over to the Slytherin table, wondering if it was full or something if Lovino decided to sit here. He could see at least half of the table glaring in his, or rather, Lovino's direction disgustedly. Were he a lesser man, he might have shuddered at the intense glares thrown at him and the one sitting next to him. Luckily, the Sorting Hat placed him in Gryffindor for a reason. Deciding that no, he was not intimidated, he just stared back at them defiantly and continued eating his cereal with a huff. Really, what was their problem? A Slytherin sitting with the Gryffindors couldn't be such big deal. It must have happened a bunch of times before.
He blinked at Lovino, tilting his head. "We have better food here? I thought everyone ate the same food." he asked disbelievingly. Why would their table have better food? It's not like the house elves had anything against Slytherin, right? Daniel couldn't imagine the innocently cheerful little house elves holding a grudge against a house. Not even the, according to his fellow Gryffindors, evil bully house.

| Making a face when his stomach finally protested at the amount of food he had put in his stomach, he pushed the plate away from himself and just sipped at his coffee. He knew that this would mean that, half way through one of his classes, he would probably spend the last half of class on the toilet. His stomach wasn't used to having so much food; he really should have thought of that before he started eating.
"Mh?" He blinked and looked up from his coffee, having gotten distracted from the conversation. "Well, there's really only one pot for the entire school, so someone has to get the last of it. And that would be the Slytherins." Lovino shrugged, sipping at his coffee again. "Gryffindors are the first ones served after the teachers."
He leaned back in his seat and gave Daniel a nod, ignoring the looks coming from their houses and the teachers. He couldn't really tell what the looks meant, which was why he was ignoring them. Otherwise he would try to interpret them.

| He stared at Lovino, raising an eyebrow. "Really? But why would they serve us first? I don't think we have done anything to be so loved by them." Still, that was nice to know. That meant they had the best food out of all the houses. Although Daniel felt a little bad for eating better food than the others, he was somewhat pleased deep down. Gryffindor must be a very well liked house if even the house elves favored them. It was true that Daniel had made friends with at least five house elves down in the kitchens; maybe his housemates had done the same? Daniel made a mental note to go down to the kitchens after lessons and ask the house elves about it.
Putting another spoonful of cereal in his mouth, Daniel looked around the Great Hall, carefully avoiding looking at the Slytherin table. He was surprised to find that even the majority of Ravenclaw was staring at them, thankfully with interest instead of disgust or fury. Even the teachers were looking at them! He just couldn't understand why Lovino sitting at their table was such a big deal. Just because their ties were a different color and they slept a few floors away from each other, they couldn't eat breakfast together?
Only the Hufflepuffs stayed indifferent to their sitting arrangements. He could spot one or two of them turning to look at them, but they simply smiled at him and turned back to their breakfast. It seemed like this situation wasn't all that scandalous after all.

| Rolling his eyes, Lovino made a faint hum and put his coffee down. He ignored the way the leftover food on his plate just slowly vanished, not really wanting to think in to how that happened. "It's more likely that they serve you first because you're Godric Gryffindor's house. It's probably a tradition from when the founders were still alive." Which meant that the Slytherin house had little chance of this habit being changed. It didn't make him happy, but then very little about this school actually did.
Jumping slightly as someone's hand slammed down on the table in front of him, he looked up at the scowling Gryffindor. Soon enough, the Italian was also scowling, hearing the boy's tirade against Lovino sitting there. Shooting down all of the other boy's points with sharp words, he glared at him until he sulked away back to his little group of friends.
Lovino huffed and looked at Daniel, still frowning. "There are more people in your house like you, right?" It would be terribly to have to deal with more people like that other idiotic Gryffindor every day until they got used to him being there. And he thought Gryffindor was supposed to be one of the nice houses, not a house that shouted and yelled when they didn't get their way.

| Hmm, that made sense. He had read somewhere that Godric Gryffindor was a very likable man and probably the most talented out of the four founders. He frowned slightly. Just because they were in his house didn't mean that deserved better food. That was just...unfair. Did they teachers know about this? If they did, how come they did nothing against it? All four houses should be treated as equals.
Daniel stared at his housemate, raising an eyebrow. Wow, that was just...childish. Not that he had any right to call someone childish with his personality and all, but really? Coming over here to throw a hissy fit was so pathetic. His seat wasn't even anywhere near Lovino! He doubted the Slytherin was even in that guy's line of sight. He was ready to raise his voice and kindly ask his fellow Gryffindor to shut the fuck up, but Lovino didn't need his help. He defended himself more than well enough. He could see his housemate giving him a begging glance, probably asking for his help and/or support. Daniel just shook his head slightly, making the other go back to his seat sulkily. The group of Gryffindors started to whisper to each other, casting angry and betrayed looks at him, which Daniel simply ignored.
"Like me as in they don't mind a Slytherin sitting here? Less than you would think. I think the foreign students who don't have many native students as friends don't really have a problem with you." Daniel rolled his eyes. "The others can't stand a little patch of green amongst all this red it seems."
He grinned at Lovino. "Or like me as in mature, smart, and all in all perfect? No, there are no others like me." he said, hoping to get a smile out of him.

| Lovino noticed the way the Gryffindor looked at Daniel for help in getting the Italian away from the table, and he also noticed that way Daniel turned his house mate down. He tried to ignore the warm feeling that spread when he saw that, especially when he noticed the betrayed and angry looks coming from most of the Gryffindors. Daniel would be in quite a lot of trouble later on, when his house mates got a hold of him. Lovino resolved not to feel too guilty, as it was Daniel's choice to side with the Slytherin.
"The others seem like fucking idiots then." He decided, taking a sip of his drink. Which he then promptly choked on when Daniel mentioned being "perfect". Lovino coughed, getting the liquid out of his throat in his attempt to laugh at the other teenager. "W-well, I'm quite glad there's no one else quite like you. The world probably wouldn't survive through two of you." He quickly cleaned away the coffee, feeling his face turn red in embarrassment.
Lovino could definitely hear the way the Gryffindors were laughing at him, and it would be hard not to notice the smirks on the faces of the Slytherins. He didn't quite understand the joy other people got from seeing the embarrassment, but it still made things even worse.

| Daniel frowned at the Slytherin slightly. "I wouldn't call them idiots, just too judgmental for their own good." he said, defending his housemates. They were actually kind of nice to everyone besides the Slytherin. "They are the same as your house. Well, in that aspect at least." God help him if either of those two houses heard him call Gryffindor and Slytherin similar. He was sure both parties would eagerly curse him or punch him in the nose.
Daniel patted his back back gently, looking at him worriedly. "Hey, are you alright? I don't think I said something shocking enough to make you choke." He scoffed at the other indignantly. "And what do you mean the world wouldn't survive two of me? The world needs an army of me. Perfection is hard to achieve, you know. I should be cloned over and over to make this imperfect world a better place." He was trying to pretend to be an egoistic asshole, although he wasn't sure how well that was working, having said all those things obviously teasingly.
He stared at his housemates confusedly. What were they laughing at? And why were they pointing in their direction? Surely they couldn't have heard what he had just said? No, they wouldn't be laughing like this. Their laughter was almost...mocking? Were they laughing at Lovino's coughing? No, that wasn't funny at all. He turned to the Italian with a questioning look. Maybe he knew what the hell they found so amusing? Since he was half turned away from him, Daniel could see a part of Lovino's back. Rather, a part of his back Daniel was still resting his hand on. Oh. So that was what they were laughing at.
Daniel withdrew his hand from his back, a slight blush already rising on his face. Seriously, seeing a Gryffindor being friendly with a Slytherin should have made them angry or disgusted not...amused. He shot his fellow Gryffindors an embarrassed glare. Idiots.

| "And I would call them idiots. No matter what house they're in." He slowly stopped coughing, rubbing his throat slightly. It was then that he actually noticed Daniel patting his back. And Lovino would have said something cutting and mean to make him stop touching him, but it actually felt kind of nice - only kind of though - so he said nothing and let it stay there.
He shrugged and sat up a little, using a napkin to clean up the mess that his choking had left behind. "I'm fine. And the idea of you being perfect was incredibly shocking." He snorted and laughed slightly, shaking his head. "An army of you would be enough to destroy the world, not save. More than one of you is just an incredibly bad idea." He gave him an amused look, rolling his eyes.
And then blinking as Daniel suddenly pulled his hand away, the spot where it was feeling cold. Lovino shivered and frowned, watching him blush and send a glare in the direction of his house mates. What on earth... ? "You think they're idiots just as much as I do, you can't say anything against that idea any more." He concluded, nodding firmly and going back to sipping at his coffee.
He thought over his schedule for the morning, trying to discover just what books he needed to go grab. Thankfully he had no class just after breakfast so he had plenty of time to go get his things. "What class do you have after breakfast?" He wondered, curious.

| He coughed slightly and pushed his blush down. No reason to get embarrassed just because you were patting someone's back. Really, none at all. And if his housemates were laughing at something like this, then they were plain immature and idiotic. He ignored the fact that he would probably react the same way, especially if the victim of the laughter blushes like he did.
Suddenly what Lovino had said registered in his mind. He gave the Slytherin a fake hurt look, clutching his robes over his chest dramatically, obviously indicating his heart breaking. "Lovi, you hurt my feelings. Badly. How could you? An army of me would save the world from imperfection! Come on, everyone would love it if there were more of me!" he said, not even realizing the nickname he had unknowingly given to the other.
"I don't think they are idiots. I think they are weird." He grinned. "But weird people are always more fun." And they were. People called him weird at least three times a week, never without a smile, a laugh, or some fondness in their voice. If being weird meant entertaining others and himself it was pretty much worth it.
Daniel wrinkled his nose. "Potions." He had tried to say it normally, without pouring his hatred in those few syllables, but he wasn't sure how well that worked. Maybe Potions was a part of the reason he couldn't eat a lot in the mornings; maybe it was a simple defense mechanism so he wouldn't get sick from that class.

| Tilting his head as Daniel coughed and stopped blushing, Lovino stopped trying to understand what went through the Gryffindor's head and just finished off his coffee, putting the cup next to his empty plate. He would have poured himself more, but he was already pushing his body beyond its limits. He really shouldn't add to the stress it was going through at the moment.
He snorted at Daniel's over dramatic display, shaking his head. "We're just going to go in circles here Daniel, if you keep this up. The world really doesn't need more than one of you, no matter how insistent you are about it being the best thing for the world." He ignored the nickname, used to it from his grandfather and brother. They really did have something against his full name, which normally pissed him off. But Lovino decided that Daniel hadn't realized that he had shortened the Italian's name.
"I suppose they are. Though I still maintain that they're idiots and that nothing will change that, no matter how great weird people are." Mostly because all of the weird people he had meet were all idiots in his opinion. Though he might have just not met any of the great weird people yet.
He frowned at Daniel, shaking his head. He definitely heard the anger and disgust in the other boy's voice when he had said the word, and he didn't understand why Daniel hated Potions so much. He had ignored it the last time they had talked, but Lovino wasn't going to put up with the disgust of his favorite subject any longer. "Why do you hate Potions so much?" He demanded, crossing his arms.

| Daniel shrugged, an amused smile on his lips. "Fine, fine, I'll let you have the last word this time. I will convert you one day." Pretending to be egoistic was fun, but he could sense that that joke had been overused. Well, for now. He will just have to attack Lovino with his non-existent perfectness some other time.
He couldn't help but wince when the Italian crossed his arms, an annoyed, borderline pissed off, look in his eyes. Okay, hiding his hatred of that blasted thing was unsuccessful; and now he had insulted Lovino. Go figure.
He looked away from the annoyed glare pointed at him and shrugged. "Oh, you know, nothing special, this and that happened, I started disliking it and then even more stuff happened and I started hating it and it's been like this since then." That might have been just a tad too vague, but Daniel didn't care. He wasn't about to start telling the detailed history of his hatred to someone who loved the subject.

| Rolling his eyes at Daniel's declaration, Lovino gave him a look. "Right right, of course you will. Can't say I'm looking forward to the day that happens though." He shook his head in amusement and grabbed his bag in preparation of standing up.
"... that was annoyingly vague. If you actually gave me a reason as to why you disliked it so much, I might be able to better understand your hatred." Lovino explained, nodding firmly and giving Daniel yet another look. Plus, if Daniel gave him a reason, then Lovino would be able to use that reason to help the Gryffindor learn to like the subject again. While the Italian certainly wasn't a teacher of any kind - really couldn't stand teaching in general - he could help other people learn so long as he was able to get something out of it.
And, if he taught Daniel to like the subject, than maybe he wouldn't have to worry about making the other upset when Lovino wanted to talk about something related to potions. Not that Lovino actually cared if the other got upset! It just... made it easier on him if he didn't have to deal with a huffy silence coming from the person he was talking to.

| Daniel frowned at the look the Italian gave him. "I don't see why you would want to understand my hatred. I have some not so pleasant memories about it, that's all." He stared back at him defiantly. There were things he didn't really like talking about, the negative aspects of his childhood being one of them.
He hated talking about depressing things from his past because it tended to make people pity him, which was something he couldn't stand. Or they tried to make him like that rohadt class, like his mother. He could decide what he wanted to like and hate for himself very well, he didn't need anyone's help with that!
"What class do you have after breakfast?" Changing the subject was probably the best way to avoid an argument. Not that he was afraid of confrontations, far from it, but he didn't want to start a shouting match with Lovino in the middle of the Great Hall. Or, well, anywhere at all. Once triggered, Daniel's temper could be pretty scary, and Potions always managed to piss him off. Or make him depressed and THEN piss him off.

| Rolling his eyes, Lovino sighed. "Because if I understood, I probably wouldn't try to make you like the subject." He nodded at his explanation, playing with the straps on his bag. "But fine, I won't push it anymore." He could certainly understand bad memories in the past, all too well. And since he would never willingly talk about his past, he wouldn't push someone else to do so.
Though if Daniel did want to talk about it, Lovino would awkwardly do his best to understand the Gryffindor's past without pitying him. He hated pity, and he could only think of attention whores who would enjoy having other people's pity. So obviously - at least to him - Daniel would also dislike having other people's pity.
Lovino accepted the subject change, knowing that it would be better to let Daniel take control of the conversation at this point so they could avoid a fight. "I have a free period after breakfast. And then I have Arithmancy." And then Ancient Runes, and then lunch, and then Potions and another free period. So his day was actually pretty nice, for the most part. Ancient Runes before lunch was never a good idea, but everything else was better.

| "Thank you. You could try to make me like it but trust me, you wouldn't succeed." He really was grateful that Lovino didn't want to push it anymore. He didn't want to start an argument, not when they were getting along so well, not when they were almost friends.
He was even more grateful when Lovino didn't question his abrupt change of the subject. Thank God, he didn't have to talk about that blasted subject anymore! "A free period immediately after breakfast?" Daniel whistled lowly. "Lucky. You're a sixth year, right? I heard you guys have lots of free periods." Lucky them. He knew the older students were supposed to use those periods for studying and catching up on homework and stuff, but he couldn't help but envy them. Having those would be nice.
"Arithmancy? I take that class too. Do you need it for your future career or are you just interested in it?" He himself only took that class because of interest, he was pretty sure he wouldn't need it in the future."What other classes do you have?"

| Lovino shrugged, playing with a fork. "Maybe, maybe not. I suppose we'll never know really." Because he didn't actually want to fight with Daniel. It was odd, but he could almost call the other boy his friend. Almost. That one word probably wouldn't go away for a while though.
"Ah, yeah." He nodded, rolling his eyes at the faint tone of admiration he could hear in the Gryffindor's voice. "I am a sixth year. The number of free periods depends on the number of classes you decide to keep taking after the O.W.L.s, so I have less than the other sixth years that I know." Except the Ravenclaws. Those little know it alls kept every class on their schedule after their exams.
He shook his head. "No, I don't think so. I just like the subject." He tilted his head and started counting off of his fingers. "Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Potions, Transfiguration, Charms, Herbology, Astronomy, and Divination." He paused to think over to the list in case he missed something before nodding firmly.

| Great. He wasn't going to have an overwhelming amount of free periods then; he was just too much of a nerd to only take the classes he would need for his future. Sometimes he wondered why the Sorting Hat hadn't placed him in Ravenclaw. Then again, he wasn't exactly diligent when it came to studying material he wasn't interested in. (Like Potions or Divination, ugh.)
Daniel nodded slowly. "I have most of those classes as well, except for Divination and Arithmancy. I also have History of Magic, DADA, and Care of Magical Creatures." He regretted not taking Arithmancy a bit. Some of his friends said that it was a pretty interesting subject. "So, what are you going to be when you get out of school?" Really, that was such a standard question. Oh well.

| Lovino paused and thought over Daniel's statement, slowly tilting his head in confusion. "You just said that you were taking Arithmancy a little bit ago... What changed?" Unless Daniel had meant to say a different class than Arithmancy. Ancient Runes maybe? Lovino wasn't sure, but he did know that it was making him feel confused. And he hated that feeling, of not understanding something.
He looked around as people started to stand and leave the Great Hall, surprised. He hadn't realized that the two of them had been talking for all of breakfast. Glancing at the head table and frowning when he saw that there were only two teachers left - a sure sign that class would start soon - Lovino stood up and grabbed his bag. He didn't want to make Daniel late for his class, even if the Gryffindor would probably be happy about missing some of potions.
