| Sighing as he headed out for the lake, Lovino rubbed his arms. They still felt all weird from being forced to carry so many books down the stairs - sometimes even up, since the stairs had a funny way of doing things and liked to make his life more difficult than it already was. He sometimes wondered if he was going over his threshold of appropriateness when it came to these books. Then he remembered that knowledge was power and the person with the most knowledge had the most power, and he felt better about himself.
The Italian shook his head and slowed his walk down to a slight meandering, crossing his arms. It was nice enough out - close enough to winter to be cold, but also close enough to summer that it was still nice and colorful outside. He liked it and as such, really hoped that Daniel wouldn't blow it up.
Speaking of Daniel, he spotted the Gryffindor lounging over by the lake and shifted directions so he was walking in the brunette's direction. Standing next to him, he glared a little bit. "No fires, got it?" He ordered, crossing his arms and scowling at him. Daniel seemed like the type to enjoy setting things on fire.

| After the Italian left, Daniel didn't waste time on walking slowly and all but sprinted outside. He loved the library, he really did, but being between four walls would never compare to being outside. Especially by the lake.
When he reached the bank of the lake Daniel had to use all of his self-control not to launch himself in the water and swim a few laps. The water was surely freezing at this time of the year, although that rarely bothered him. He was just that addicted to water. Forcing his thoughts away from stripping and swimming, Daniel sat down on the soft grass, playing with a few grass blades absentmindedly.
And then his Slytherin partner arrived, distrustful as ever. He grinned up at the shorter boy mischievously. "No promises." He wasn't planning on setting anything on fire anyway. It was more likely that the spell would blow up and shove them into the water. Actually producing fire would be kind of cool though. "So, ready to try 'em out?"

| Frowning more, Lovino sighed and moved so Daniel could stand up. "Yeah yeah, I'm ready." He shoved his hands into his pockets and looked around, rocking on his feet a little. "So... what is the hopeful outcome of this spell again?" He'd been so busy worrying about death that he'd actually kind of forgotten the entire purpose in the first place.
He looked around, relaxing a little. He really did hope that Daniel wouldn't burn it down - that would truly be such a shame, as it was so nice out here. Even if it was a little cold. Lovino frowned at Daniel as a precaution, even if Daniel wouldn't understand the reasoning behind it.

| His face fell a little. Lovino forgot already? Well, it made sense, he guessed. The Slytherin obviously wasn't very interested in spells, much less in making them. "Hopefully we can stop time." He would be happy if it only slowed down though. That was actually harder than completely stopping it, so he doubted it would actually happen but it would be nice.
Daniel pulled out his wand, not wanting to waste the time of his probably very busy and bored companion. He looked around for a nice place to aim at; the greenery was out of the question, he didn't want to set them on fire on accident. That left the lake. He turned towards the lake and did a quick tracking spell, sighing in relief when he found this particular part of the lake to be void of fish and the giant squid.
"You might want to stand back a bit."

| And now Lovino felt bad. It was actually kind of amazing. Still, he had gotten distracted from the entire reason they were spending time together, and thus he needed a refresher. "Alright." He nodded, watching Daniel get his wand out and taking a step back just in case. He then tilted his head in confusion as Daniel did a spell and nothing happened, yet the Gryffindor relaxed and looked relieved. It obviously had something to do with the lake, but what had he done?
He frowned at the lake, noticing that - at least in the top layers of the water that he could see - that there were no fish. Maybe that had something to do with it? But Daniel had cast the spell on himself just fine back in the school. ... Except that Daniel would be the type to be more concerned about some fish than himself. Lovino shook his head, amused at the way Daniel's mind worked.
Lovino huffed and moved back again. "That instills no confidence in me whatsoever." If Daniel got killed or killed him, Lovino was going to find a way to make his life absolute hell.

| "It makes you safe though." He threw Lovino a grin over his shoulder and turned back towards the water, lifting his wand once again.
He took a deep breath and said the first of the two possible incantations in a determined, clear voice. For a moment, nothing happened. The trees were still swaying gently, the water was still rippling a bit, and he could hear Lovino breathing behind him.
However, before the disappointment could set in, a burst of energy erupted from his wand and knocked him in the face, making him fall on his bottom with a startled "Uff!".
That hurt. He put a hand on his throbbing cheek, wincing. His face would be black in a few hours. But something happened. A pretty powerful something if his cheek was anything to go by. He grinned at his partner although the action almost made him groan in pain. That was some punch. "We're on the right track!" He couldn't keep the excitement out of his voice.

| Lovino rolled his eyes. "I suppose so. I still don't like it." He scowled at the grin Daniel gave him, crossing his arms sharply over his chest.
He watched curiously as Daniel performed the spell, trying to keep quiet. Unfortunately, in the apparent failure of the spell, Lovino's breathing sounded extremely loud and obvious. Tilting his head, the Italian prepared himself to do something he had never done with a male before - comfort him. The very idea made his skin crawl, but Daniel had seemed so excited.
Sighing, Lovino made a move to step forward; instead, he jumped back at the loud bang and stared at Daniel, who was now on the ground in pain. Of course, the Gryffindor was still smiling instead of giving off any normal reaction, but he was still in pain and thus Lovino felt kind of bad for him. Pausing as he reached into his bag, the Italian gave him a look. "Are we really? Well that's fantastic. Hold still while I take care of the blackening mark on your face." He was going to have to touch the Hungarian to do this. Daniel better be fucking grateful.
Lovino pulled out a bruise salve and opened the container, kneeling down next to Daniel.

| "I know, right?! It was pretty big hit, which means we're even closer than I thought we would get!" It could have at least broken his nose though. Oh well, he would take what he could get.
He tilted his head. "You can use healing magic?" That was a skill Daniel admittedly needed desperately. It would save him those painful days after testing a new spell. There were bruises that just refused to fade away quickly and painlessly.
Daniel looked at the boy kneeling next to him, glancing at the small container held in his hand. Oh. So it wasn't healing magic. Pity; Daniel trusted magic spells more than he trusted potions. But Lovino was very good at Potions, right? So, if he made whatever that was in the container himself, then it was probably effective. He sure hoped so.
He didn't understand why the Italian knelt down next to him though. It would have been easier to just give him the container, right? He held out his hand, expecting Lovino to just give it to him so he could put the healing thing on his face. He wanted to get back to work as soon as possible.

| Lovino rolled his eyes. "Well, yay for success. You're still bruised and the odds of you having a fractured cheekbone are very high." The Italian gave him a look. "Try not to get a broken face, as that can not be healed with a potion."
Pausing, Lovino looked at Daniel. "Ah... yes, but I won't be casting any of them now." He stared at Daniel's hand before realizing that the Gryffindor wasn't someone in the hospital wing and thus could put the salve on himself. Scowling and turning red, he handed the salve over to Daniel and stood back up, crossing his arms. "Hurry up so you can get back to work."

| "A fractured cheekbone?" He wasn't so sure about that. Broken bones usually hurt a lot more than his face did right now. "I could always ask the nurse to heal me later. We know each other pretty well by now." Daniel had a slight tendency of getting himself hurt at least once a week.
"Ohhh, that's cool. I can only heal paper cuts." Not that he ever did. Why waste time with small cuts when they only throbbed for about a minute?
He tilted his head when Lovino went red and stood back up quickly. Why was he angry now? What did Daniel do? Strange. "Right, right, I'm on it." He opened the container and, without looking inside, scooped up a small amount of salve and put it on his face where it hurt the most, wincing slightly when his face throbbed in response.
After finishing with his face he stood up, ready to be in action once again. "Hmmm, I think I'll try the other one too. If it doesn't work, we can always work with this one."
